Dakota's Happy Trails and C-Fer's many Tales

 Hide and seek.

Hitting the local trails.

This is to show the bengal leopard cat's unique markings and also just how long he is!

Dogs like to sit on the stairs too.

Opportunists at Dinner time!

Dakota loves loves loves to sunbathe.  She probably had a bath not too long before this photo was taken.

C-fer's found a girlfriend (Zoe)!

Zoe's playing hard to get...

C-fer just loves to get into any bag, box, etc. even if it's a snug fit.

Often timid, Dakota thinks she'd rather hang with the humans...

A shared love for... squirrels!

Like every cat, C-fer can get grumpy...

But he's quite content to gaze at the passers-by

Such a lovely coat!

Visiting the horses is just the thing to lift her spirits.  The outdoors is like doggy-dope... :)

At some point before we adopted him, C-fer lost a tooth (it was found on the kitchen table... perhaps due to living with 3 dogs?).  Anyway, still makes for an impressive yawn.

This is one of the first times Dakota and C-fer are sleeping on the same mat.  C-fer wants to be closer but Dakota's still not sure...

Sometimes Dakota likes to cool off during the summer heat.  The dirt below these plants is just right!  Ahhh.

Dakota's new buddy, C-fer (as in "C is for Cat"), a 10 yr old Bengal Leopard Cat we adopted in the summer.

This is clearly Dakota's bed, but at least she'll share it... sort of.

This is when they were still fairly nervous around each other. C-fer wanted to be close, but Dakota wasn't so sure...

Dakota turned 11 this January! Happy Birthday 'Kota! We love you. Keep that youthful spirit! She's slowing down a little, that is until she out romping in the snow. It shows most when she's around a large group of dogs and seems to be more nervous than normal. Otherwise she's in great health.

Sometimes Dakota's interest makes smaller dogs nervous. This one is thinking, "maybe if I sit REAL still she won't notice me..."

Gee, I wonder what they're hoping for! Treats!

Here are some autumn pics of Dakota.

Anticipation...

Fast friends (but don't hold me too tight!)

On the road again...

At home with her friend Buster, blissed out in the sun.

Relaxing by the river in Jackson Park (Peterborough)

Bedtime!

Here is Dakota: Loved by all and loves all unconditionally! Although 10 years old, she is always mistaken for a puppy, partly due to her size, and mostly due to her frisky, playful spirit. She loves to bask in the sun (which we refer to as "doggy dope" because she gets all dreamy and blissed out).

Dakota is easily entertained. She's even figured out how to pull the string on a toy mouse and then chase after it. (She has caught a few real mice too, and recently, a red squirrel!).

It's easy to get her attention...

Just say "din din?" (dinner), or "walk?"

Or say "Squirrel!"

Here she is (on the right) with bum in the air, ready to play

As one of our friends would say, here she is, "pinching one off." Don't tell her we included this one 'cause she'd be embarassed. After all, she is a lady. Still, I thought the shadow turned out artsy and amusing...

Dakota loves to run like the wind -- people are always amazed at how fast she goes. She actually grins while running. And whenever she gets the chance she loves to herd other dogs.

She loves to pose for the camera, all "prim and proper"

Dakota is a happy traveller too. Here she's posing as a firedog in Yosemite.
